Have you ever wondered why some people get all the luck,
all the good jobs, work in better teams or in general have a better life than
you? At Equalitas the simple philosophy is to make your world a better place to
be and this is not simply a matter of luck. Through a series of fun and
interactive modules Equalitas have helped teams and individuals
investigate the range and diversity within our modern world and how, by valuing
that diversity, we can increase job satisfaction, overall well being and
improve performance within teams and organisations.
To really ensure the maximum engagement from people within
an organisation we first have to realise that we are all different. An obvious fact but how many times do we hear the terms, people like us, or your sort. Whilst we all strive to be fair and reasonable,
prejudice has a nasty habit of creeping in when we least expect it and none of
us are immune. However, in many situations individuals can be excluded or
treated differently which can result in a range of reactions from poor
performance to leaving the organisation and, in extreme cases, even taking
legal action.
Recently we have seen on the news many examples of how our
society is sleepwalking its way into
segregation (Trevor Phillips, Head
of the Commission for Racial Equality)
Legislation over recent years has done much to make our
world an inclusive and more tolerant society. However, it is only by following
the spirit of this legislation that we can really hope to make this world a
better place to live in.
